Uses

This medication is used to treat migraine. Ubrogepant may work by changing the amount of a certain natural substance in the brain. It helps to relieve headache, pain, and other migraine symptoms (including nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light/sound). Prompt treatment helps you return to your normal routine and may decrease your need for other pain medications.

This medication is not used to prevent future migraines or lessen how often you get migraines.

How to Use This Medication

Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start taking ubrogepant and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, at the first sign of a migraine. The dosage is based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you may be taking. Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products). If needed, most people can take a second tablet 2 hours after the first tablet. You should not take a second tablet within 24 hours if you consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice or if you are taking certain other medications (see also Drug Interactions section). Do not take more than 200 milligrams in a 24-hour period. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure if or when it is safe to take a second dose.

It is not known if it is safe to take this medication for more than 8 migraines within 30 days.

Tell your doctor if your condition does not get better or if it gets worse.
