Ingredients

  • Crust2 cups oats

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds (optional)

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup butter (or margarine), melted

  • Filling2 cups blueberries, fresh or frozen

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1 tsp almond extract (or vanilla extract)

  • Topping1 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup butter (or margarine), cut into small pieces

Cut into bars for breakfast on busy mornings.

Directions

  • CrustIn a large mixing bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, sliced almonds, flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  • Pour in melted butter or margarine and stir to combine.
  • Press into two greased cake pans (or one 13 x 9 casserole dish).
  • FillingIn the same bowl, toss blueberries with sugar, flour, and almond or vanilla extract.
  • Spread onto pressed crust.
  • ToppingWipe out bowl and combine flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Cut in butter or margarine until crumbly. Sprinkle over the blueberries.
  • Bake at 375°F for 25 to 35 minutes until set and golden brown on top.
