Carbohydrate-Loading Diet

Carbohydrate-Loading Diet: Main Image

Nonfood Factors

A specific exercise training regimen in preparation for a competition should be followed with the carbohydrate-loading diet. First you perform the specific sport to exhaustion, then train moderately for the next three days, then reduce training time over the next three days, and then compete on the seventh day.

Is This Diet Vegetarian-Friendly?

Yes.

Eating Out

If you’re going out for a carbohydrate-loading meal, make sure you carbo-load and don’t fat-load. Don’t just stuff yourself with all the food you can see—choose carefully. Whole-grain pasta with tomato sauce and vegetables, with fruit for dessert, will prepare you better than a cheesy pepperoni pizza and French fries topped off with ice cream.
