Spicy Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 lb great northern beans, soaked overnight

  • 4 cups vegetable broth (or water)

  • 2 jalapeños, chopped, seeds and ribs removed

  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste

  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup molasses

  • 2 med onions, chopped

  • 1 lb smoked bacon, chopped

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 2 tsp kosher salt

  • 2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce

Bacon and jalapeños equal smoky, spicy baked beans.

Directions

  • Soak beans overnight.
  • Place bacon and onions in sauté pan and sauté until onions are tender.
  • Place onions, bacon, and all other ingredients in slow cooker .
  • Cook in slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours or until beans are tender.
