Calculate Your Target Heart Rate
Calculate Your Target Heart Rate
Regular exercise, at the right intensity level, is critical to supporting optimal health. Monitoring your heart rate during exercise will help you exercise at the right intensity level.
The range above is for moderate to intense physical activity for adults 18 to 64, which assumes a maintained target heart rate between 60 and 80% of the maximum heart rate. Maximum heart rate is calculated by a median based on age, gender, and activity level, or a known resting heart rate. Generally, a lower resting heart rate is linked to better cardiovascular health.
If you have a health condition or are considering changes to your physical activity, talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
