Jagermeister Mussels

Ingredients

  • 4 cups mussels

  • 1 Tbs olive oil

  • 1/4 cup chopped onions

  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped

  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

  • 1/4 cup Jagermeister

  • 1 lemon, juiced

  • 2 Tbs butter

  • 1/4 cup torn, fresh basil

Mussels steamed in licorice-flavored liqueur—a truly special meal!

Directions

  • Scrub mussels clean with a stiff brush and cold water.
  • Preheat large skillet. Drizzle with olive oil and add onions, garlic, and kosher salt. Sauté for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add mussels and cover for about 2 minutes, just when they begin to open.
  • Remove lid and add Jagermeister, lemon juice, and butter. Return lid for another minute.
  • Add fresh basil and stir just until basil is wilted. Serve and enjoy.
