Ingredients

  • 4 dozen shucked oysters

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal

  • 1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning (or other Cajun or seafood seasoning)

  • Vegetable oil for frying

  • Cocktail Sauce1/2 cup ketchup

  • 1 Tbs horseradish

  • 1 tsp Worchestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp Tabasco sauce, or more to taste

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Perfect fried oysters—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Directions

  • Preheat cooking oil to medium-high.
  • Combine flour, cornmeal, and seasoning in a large bowl.
  • Toss oysters in the flour mixture in batches to coat well.
  • Fry oysters in hot oil just until golden brown.
  • Mix together all ingredients for cocktail sauce and serve alongside oysters.
