Simply Delicious Strawberry Frosting

Ingredients

  • 4 sticks unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup fresh whole strawberries, de-stemmed (or thawed if using frozen strawberries)

  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

  • 8 cups powdered sugar

A dead-simple buttercream frosting featuring bright, flavorful strawberries.

Directions

  • Purée the strawberries with a food processor and set aside.
  • Using a mixer, beat softened butter until smooth.
  • Add the strawberry purée, lemon juice, salt, and powdered sugar to the butter. Continue mixing until smooth and fluffy. If the frosting is too thick, add a little milk gradually until you get the right consistency. If it is too thin, add a little more powdered sugar.
  • Pipe or spread frosting onto a cooled cake or cupcakes.
